VL240 Swing Away Tailstock Support

The VL240 Swing Away Tailstock System is ideal for turners who frequently remove the tailstock from the bed. By being able to swing the tailstock out of the way, this allows the turner to have more room over the bed when turning bowls or vessels without the inconvenience of having to lift the tailstock on and off the bed.

Sequence of opening:


STEP 1 Make sure latch is closed before moving tailstock to the end of the support.	STEP 2 Open Latch once the tailstock is tightened in position.


STEP 3 Swing out to desired position.	Note the position of the tailstock. The hinge design has enabled the tailstock to swing out and back, away from the lathe bed. This facilitates easy turning of hollow vessels etc.
The below image shows the distance between centres. The great thing about the Swing Away Tailstock support bed is that it can also be used as an extension bed. The support bed is 400mm long and with it in place the distance between centres is now 940mm as shown below.
